Intro
Hey there!
My name is Aiyan Alam. I am an undergraduate student, studying computer engineering with a concentration in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at Purdue University.
I have worked in bioinformatics and health research, as well as machine learning, computer-aided design (CAD), and software development. I have been published 3 times by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
I was a supplemental instructor at Purdue University, helping students in a variety of courses, from calculus to computer programming. I was also an instructor at iD Tech Camps, teaching computer-aided design, robotics through machine learning, and artificial intelligence and machine learning at Stanford University.
I was the chief technology officer at AidLink, overseeing all app operations and ensuring that our users are able to connect with disabled and elderly individuals seeking non-medical care. I have since left this role to better further my career in computer engineering, but I am still held as a co-founder of the company.
I was also working with the Tao Research Group at Purdue, working to build a machine learning model that will help to detect breast cancer biomarkers, furthering the diagnosis process of cancer.

Holographic Computer Monitor
Building a computer monitor that is not solid, but virtual, created by light and can be interacted with simple hand movements.
Student Communication App
Developing an app that helps students communicate with other students and student organizations, as well as organize their schedules using artificial intelligence.
Social Media App
Developed an app in Java as part of a class project that allows people to add users as friends and chat with their friends.
Degree Planning Website
Developed a website in Next.js and Tailwind CSS as part of a business hackathon that would allow a student to plan their degree at Purdue based on the requirements needed for the degree and also their interests to plan their general education classes.
Developed an AI model in PyTorch that would help the student plan each and every semester and what classes they should take.
Predicting Breast Cancer Biomarkers using Machine Language
Developed a machine learning mode using Python that would identify the differences breast cancer biomarkers, which were indicated by analyzing different proteins and peptides.
Translating Hand Movements Using EEG Data
Redesigned EEG to better receive data. 3D designed and printed a model hand using Blender and Unity.
Developed a machine learning model that can help detect different hand movements using data from EEG and copy those hand movements onto model hand.
Measuring stress response in college-age students through EEG recordings for implementation in machine learning algorithms capable of characterizing stress
Tested for correlation between body temperature and brain waves. Built a machine learning model that could detect the possible spikes from the data, allowing us to understand when the brain is under stress
Disabled and Elderly People Help App
Developed a website and two apps using Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Laravel, and Flutter that would help disabled and elderly populations request help with their day-to-day activities all within one app and allow volunteers to respond and help those that need the help.
ASME IAM3D Challenge Project
Engineered, built, and programmed a hovercraft that can be used to supply aid to those affected in an ongoing natural disaster
ASME Student Design Competition Robotics Project
Engineered different designs for a solar-powered robot and built and programmed parts so the robot can move as competition rules allow
